Yasuo Takamatsu learned to scuba dive with the intention of finding the body of his wife, who went missing in the catastrophic tsunami that hit Japan in 2011. His words take us to the heart of an endless quest, which is magnified by a sophisticated score and camerawork. Highlighting the delicate relationship between humans and nature, the film depicts fauna and flora reclaiming their rights both on land and in a sea where physical remnants of the disaster can be found. These shots form a dialogue with footage of the tsunami, home video archives, and symbolic compositions full of ancient and spiritual traditions, recalling the complexity of grief.
