Carrying the burden of three unfinished short films, David Ricard wants to give meaning to these “failures” and be free of them. This work is both an introspective deep dive and a survey of collaborators involved in these projects, whom he feels he has betrayed by not finishing the films. He engages in an unfair battle against himself. Diving into the depths of his anxieties in order to shed them, he creates a large-scale, symbolic, theatrical reconstruction, thus reappropriating his unfinished works and revisiting his practice as a multidisciplinary artist. Both playful and profound, David against Goliath highlights the complexity of filmmaking and its great liberatory potential.
