The Piave, which divides the territory of Veneto in two, is known as a sacred river to many living in northern Italy. Riccardo De Cal’s contemplative film forms a mosaic of stories and memories, shot at the rhythm of the seasons along Piave river. The Vajont Dam disaster of 1963, a landslide that brought massive flooding, destruction, and tragedy to the valley, indelibly marked the history of the region. Here, the past and the present, the sacred and the profane coexist in a fresco that illustrates the portrait of a place where enchanting episodes from the lives of residents come alive.
