A seemingly weightless camera gradually reveals the branches of an underwater forest. Voices emerge in a polyphonic narration that gathers pieces of oral history, naming places and things in the language of those who inhabited this territory for millennia. With subtlety and precision in its visual and sound design, this work combines water and fire, superimposing two threats from the colonial present rooted in destructive capitalist growth. Underpinned by Innu stories related to forests lost to the construction of dams and hydroelectric reservoirs, this captivating short film highlights the importance of trees in ecosystems and life on earth.
