A fascinating study of real and artificial memory, this medium-length film juxtaposes images from online ads and Google Street View with those shot by the filmmaker. But in a world where an excess of disparate images accumulates in an infinite “cloud,” made possible by thousands of real servers, this asserted heterogeneity is highly coherent. Designed as a cleverly (de)constructed letter, this film, whose title symbolically and ironically refers to the iconic public artwork in Chicago, questions our relationship with multifarious technology that claims to both embody and enhance collective knowledge and memory.
