Change of Scenery Noa Blanche Beschorner

Tapetenwechsel

"I am nostalgic over memories I don't have", says the filmmaker of Change of Scenery. Born in Germany in 2002, Noa Blanche Beschorner evokes the memory of those who, a generation before her, lived through the separation of East and West Germany. Images from her aunt who lived in the East are interspersed with self-portraits of the director, who films both her face and environment: a room covered in wallpaper that she removes as she narrates. This action invokes the film’s title and the complex concept of nostalgia itself, which is rooted in our relationship to change. Change of Scenery is the story of youth seeking their identity when confronting their collective memory.
