Virus
A man faces the camera and introduces himself in Innu-aimun, with a forest superimposed on his face. He switches to French, delivering his message in a powerful slam and masterfully using words in a language imposed by colonization. Taking COVID as a starting point, he shares a harsh critique of our relationship with Mother Earth, who has the right to defend herself against destructive humanity. The dynamically edited images add to the gravity of his words, while the soundtrack brings elements to life. Using his peace pipe of words as a brother and not a judge, the filmmaker calls for self-criticism and solidarity that should no longer be ignored.
