National Short and Medium-Length Competition

Le spectre visible Sarah Seené, Maxime Corbeil-Perron

Five individuals share stories of an experience they all have in common: being struck by lightning. This phenomenon, as rare as it is dangerous, has allowed each of them to see life differently. While each of their stories is unique, there is a certain harmony in their reflections on the spiritual impact of this event. Shot on 16mm film, The Visible Spectrum uses sound and physicality to evoke the lightning survivors’ experiences. At the same time, it is a candid reflection on humans’ metaphysical and psychic relationship with nature, life, and death.
