Shabu, a Dutch teenager, lives with his family, originally from Suriname, in a buzzing immigrant community on the outskirts of Rotterdam. This film is an affectionate and dynamic portrayal of a young man with a bright personality and a big smile. After wrecking his grandmother’s car, he works several small jobs to pay off his debts. But Shabu is a dreamer, and since none of these jobs are compatible with his eloquent personality, he clings to his passion for music to fulfill his dreams. Aruban-Dutch filmmaker Shamira Raphaëla delivers a captivating, lively, coming-of-age tale steeped in vibrant summer hues.
