Following her highly acclaimed first film The Cloud in Her Room in 2020, Zheng Lu Xinyuan presents an intimate autofiction addressing issues analogous to and inseparable from her personal life. This non-linear story explores a series of events and moments in Xinyuan’s journey as she tries to return to her native China during the pandemic. She films both intimate and mundane moments, alone or with her partner, documenting her quest to better know her great-grandfather through a trip to Myanmar. The audience is invited to discover her daily life, take part in her family investigation and reflect on sociopolitical and diasporic challenges in a mysterious and deliberately disjointed atmosphere.
