RIDM announces the 2021 People’s Choice Award: DEAR AUDREY by Jeremiah Hayes

Press releases

Montreal, Monday, November 22, 2021 - The Montreal International Documentary Festival (RIDM) ended its run of theatrical screenings yesterday, Sunday, November 21. The 24th edition presented 78 public screenings for many eager filmgoers who had the opportunity to discover the selected films on the big screen at the Cinémathèque québécoise, Cinéma du Musée, Cinéma du Parc or Cineplex Quartier Latin.

Invited to vote for their favourite film, audiences chose to give the People’s Choice Award to Dear Audrey by Jeremiah Hayes. This touching film revisits the incredible life of documentary filmmaker Martin Duckworth as he accompanies his wife, photographer and activist Audrey Schirmer, through the last phase of Alzheimer's disease. Co-produced by Cineflix Media and the NFB, the film will have its theatrical release in May 2022. The People's Choice Award is presented by MADE | NOUS.

The RIDM continues online through November 25, accessible across Canada. Cinephiles will be able to enjoy films from Bloc 3 of the program, including Dear Audrey, as well as seven of this edition’s other award-winning films: Looking for Horses by Stefan Pavlovic, zo reken by Emanuel Licha, Animal Macula by Sylvain L'Espérance, Far Beyond the Pasturelands by Maude Plante-Husaruk and Maxime Lacoste-Lebuis, If You See Her, Say Hello by Hee Young Pyun and Jiajun (Oscar) Zhang, The Truss Arch by Sonya Stefan, and Dear Jackie by Henri Pardo.
