Montreal, Wednesday, March 3, 2021 – The board of directors of the Montreal International Documentary Festival (RIDM) and Forum RIDM is pleased to announce the appointment of Marc Gauthier to the position of Executive Director of both organizations.
“The RIDM’s board and team welcome the news of Marc’s appointment with enthusiasm. His deep understanding of the festival environment, expertise and strong leadership combined with a sense of humility and an utmost respect for the collaborative nature of the job make it possible for our organization to fulfill its mission. With the support of our dynamic and experienced team, Marc’s vision will be a great asset to the festival.”
A New Brunswick native, Marc Gauthier has 18 years of experience with the Festival international du cinéma francophone en Acadie (FICFA), including eight years as the event’s Executive Director. His years at the FICFA saw substantial growth in the festival’s reach, numerous new partnerships in Acadia and Quebec, and the launch of training and professional development initiatives for emerging Acadian filmmakers. In 2018, he was named a Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres de la République Française for his contributions to the success of French-language cinema.
“It is an honour and a privilege to join the RIDM team. For many years, the festival has distinguished itself by its boldness and professionalism. It is fertile ground for new collaborations in everything from exhibition to career development for filmmakers – issues that are very important to me. I want to thank the board for this new mandate, which I accept with excitement and hope for the future,” said Mr. Gauthier.
The 24th Montreal International Documentary Festival (RIDM) and 17th annual Forum RIDM will be held in November 2021.
