Call for applications for documentary producers looking for an Introduction to the international co-production market
Participation in the 2021 Sunny Side of the Doc international market
A SODEC initiative in partnership with RIDM Forum.
IMPORTANTES DATES AND INFORMATIONS:
Beginning of application period: Monday, March 15, 2021
Application deadline: Monday, March 29, 2021
Sunny Side of the Doc : June 21-24, 2021
* This year Sunny Side of the Doc spotlight will be on documentaries dealing with ‘Global issues’.
Deadline to submit a project for the pitch: April 22nd
Limit to appear in the video library: March 31
OBJECTIVES :
* Prepare producers with little to no experience in international co-production for the international co-production market.
* Provide in-depth practical knowledge of the international co-production landscape ahead of the Sunny Side of the Doc market.
* Encourage cultural exchanges, best practices and formal as well as informal long-term collaborations.
* Encourage participants to collaborate on European projects.
DETAILS OF THE OFFER
Professional activities offered to selected candidates
* Training workshop and individual mentorship prior to attending the Sunny Side of the Doc Market ONLINE;
* Practical workshops and presentations by presenters online;
* Access to all four days of the Market and its networking activities online;
* Full market accreditation.
REQUIRED PROFILE
Who can participate?
* All Quebec resident documentary film producers having produced at least one feature length documentary film or TV series:
* Who have not officially co-produced internationally OR having a maximum of one (1) international co-production experience;
* Have at least one project with European co-production and international broadcast potential and want to collaborate on international co-production projects in development;
* Being available at the preparatory workshops in Montreal on between April and June, 2021;
* Are available to attend the Sunny Side of the Doc Market ONLINE for its entire duration from June, 22-25, 2021.
* Having participated in a maximum of one (1) edition of Sunny Side of the Doc
HOW TO SUBMIT AN APPLICATION:
Provide a complete application(english or french) including:
* A detailed resume;
* Application form (link here) latest on March 29, 2021;
* A short project proposal including synopsis, director notes, budget summary and co-production potential (maximum five pages)
* A link to visual material (trailer, teaser or other) recommended
