Since 2012, more than 2000 students from high schools and CEGEPS, as well as youth centers, attended on-site screenings and met the filmmakers. Each year since 2014, the RIDM screens the Student Jury Award winner at their CEGEPS partners, giving students the chance to see a high-quality documentary. Thus, the RIDM encourages young people to discover the best of documentary filmmaking and its newest forms. The festival’s youth program mission is to help students learn about the cinematic language of the documentary genre, and to promote a critical understanding of local and international issues.
If you are a teacher or a school staff member and you would like to have a screening for your students, please contact Marie-Anne Sergerie, our Audience Development Coordinator, by email at msergerie@ridm.ca.
